Baltimore School for the Arts Baltimore City Public Schools, MD 9-12 Rating 3. 93 out of 5 123 reviews #1 Best High Schools for the Arts in Maryland I can only speak to the experiences of a visual artist. The schedules are well thought out, centered around the students' interests, and we constantly have access to our studios and materials. The classes are somewhat rigorous, but nothing more than college-prepatory. Our teachers are constantly involved, and there is a healthy balance between emphasis on technical skill and creativity. Academics-wise, the school falters a bit. It feels like the curriculum is constantly in a struggle between trying to be college level and trying to step aside for the arts classes. The classrooms seem wholly underfunded, unorganized, and generally unkept. But, what BSA's academics lack in facility, they more than make up for it through the teachers and the range of classes available. There is generally good communication, a wide range of opportunities, free SATs, and a constant stream of help through mental support, academic support, and artistic support.

They earn an average annual salary of $57, 330, the nation's fifth highest salary for ADESM professionals, up from $51, 670 in 2008 when Maryland was home to 31, 850 ADESM professionals. Of the 31, 300+ salaried ADESM professionals living in Maryland today, 3, 650 are graphic designers, 1, 540 are producers and directors, 450 are multimedia artists and animators, 300+ are art directors, and 230 are fine artists. Average annual salaries for these Maryland-based artists are as follows: Art Directors: $81, 680 (2008 - $71, 680) Producers and Directors: $68, 620 (2008 - $67, 260) Multimedia Artists and Animators: $65, 790 (2008 - $60, 680) Graphic Designers: $58, 440 (2008 - $51, 380) Fine Artists: $41, 630, (2008 - $34, 840) It is important to note that many artists and designers are self-employed, so it is safe to assume that the population of ADESM professionals in the state is much higher. These individuals typically earn more as well—especially in larger states and major cities. In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the "Independent Artists, Writers, and Performers" 'industry' has the highest concentration of employment (not the highest level of employment) in ADESM occupations, and it is one of the highest paying industries for ADESM professionals.
52 out of 5 965 reviews Junior: I see Frostburg as an opportunity with great potential. The campus isn't large, but that's okay because of the smaller classes and an increased learning advantage. I enjoyed my time meeting new people, trying new things, and receiving quality education. The lack of surrounding stores in the area sucks, but, you learn to manage. The foreign exchange program is excellent! There are many students from different countries that study here and it's great to indulge in their cultures & vice-versa. However, not many American students interact with them, so they miss out on a great experience. One thing to note out about Frostburg is that they hear complaints/issues. Instead of ignoring, they work on ways to improve the overall quality of the school. I appreciate that because no one wants to dislike their school. If there is a disruption, it is addressed, and a solution is developed. I'm excited to see the continued improvement of Frostburg, looks like they're going in the right direction.
