Hi all, I have a question about the beginnings of growing my faith as a Christian. I do see a therapist, and I discuss topics similar to this on a bi-monthly basis with her. I also apologize if there is a duplicate post similar to mine. I am seeking out information that pertains to the healing of child abuse with using the Christian faith as a way to ameliorate past trauma and to build a strong spiritual foundation (maybe even to build a support system). In short, I grew up in a home with parents who had little regard for the consequences of their actions. For example, my parents abused drugs and alcohol and lived extravagant lives when I was young. At the time I was about 6, the recession hit our household hard. My parents, who were both insurance agents at the time, both lost their jobs and squandered all of their savings to pay off debts tied to their fancy cars and houses. I don't remember a time when my parents slowed down their lives in order to foster a deep relationship with me because they were always flustered about money: making money, arguing about money, to the point of even fighting, etc...
